Hi Tessa! Thanks for the really thoughtful response. I lived in Tanzania and saw first hand how much capital was sent back overseas. Despite the fact that about 20% of Tanzania's GDP comes from tourism, there is surely a lot more money being made that just goes to American, European, and Chinese travel companies. While that is just another result of living in a capitalistic world, I think as traveler's we can increase our mindfulness when it comes to how and WHO we travel with!
